Important End of Year Message from Nurse Holzaepful

Immunization Requirements
All newly enrolled students must provide vaccination records or a written exemption to the school office or nurse. Required vaccines for kindergarten include: DTP, Polio, Hepatitis B, MMR, and Varicella.

Vaccines are available during our May 20 Vaccination & Free Physical Clinic (3-5pm in the Norton Center), through the Ottawa County Health Department (419-734-6800) and some local providers/pharmacies (age and insurance restrictions may apply).

Hearing & Vision Screenings
Basic screenings are provided at school for students in grades K, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 to help identify potential learning barriers. These are not a substitute for a professional exam. If you have concerns, please seek a full evaluation—I’m happy to help connect you with providers or resources if needed.

Health Needs at School
If your child has medical needs such as medications, allergies, or treatments, please reach out. I will work with you and your child’s teacher to ensure they are safe, supported, and ready to learn.

Mobile Dental Clinic
A mobile dental clinic visits Danbury once or twice per year. Participation is optional. If your child already sees a dentist regularly, services may not be covered by insurance. Enrollment is available online, and consent remains on file for 12 months. https://mobiledentists.com/

💊Medication Reminders💊

Please pick up your child’s medication from the school nurse. For safety reasons, medications should not be sent to or from school with students. Any medications remaining after May 22, 2026 without prior arrangements will be disposed of.

To schedule pickup, contact Mrs. Allison Holzaepfel, MSN, RN at holzaepfela@danburyschools.org or by phone/text.

Looking Ahead to 2026–27

Safety first — and fun, too! 🚒🚓⚓🐾

Our Danbury Safety Town was packed with hands-on learning, important safety lessons, and unforgettable experiences for our Kindergarten Lakers — all made possible through the incredible coordination of Sergeant LaMarca & Nurse Allison Holzaepful and the support of our outstanding community partners.

A huge, heartfelt thank you to the U.S. Coast Guard, Danbury Township Fire Department, Danbury Township Police Department, Laura de Roziere, our Kindergarten, maintenance and custodial crew, and everyone’s favorite four-legged officer, SRO dog Kalahan, for helping create such a meaningful and engaging day for our students!

From fire and water safety to animal care and personal wellness, our kindergarteners learned valuable lessons, built confidence, and strengthened connections with the people who help keep our community safe every day. T

Waves of Change Start Here

On May 8th, our sixth grade students participated in a beach cleanup at Magee Marsh where they joined hundreds of other people to help kick off the Biggest Week in American Birding. Our students collected 67 pounds of marine debris while living out our core value of service! This is the first of two beach cleanups as they will be cleaning up East Harbor State Park Beach this Thursday! #Service

Setting the Pace. Shattering Records. Laker Proud!

A season of milestones and championships continues for our Lakers as both our Middle School and High School athletes make their mark across the track and field season.

On the MS boys side, history was made across multiple events. Rylan Rakosky set a new personal and school record in the discus, while Valo Lewis delivered a standout performance, breaking the 400-meter dash record and earning championship honors in both the 400-meter and high jump. Levi Uhinck added to the energetic record-breaking momentum with a new 1600-meter run record. In throws, Jayden Ihnat claimed the SBC River Championship in boys shot put. Capping off an incredible meet, the MS Boys Track Team secured the 2026 Sandusky Bay Conference River Division Championship.

On the high school girls side, our lady lakers showed grit, with Emma Redett earning championship honors in the 800-meter run at the Oak Harbor Invitational, while Taytum Benyak captured the championship in the shot put, continuing a strong tradition of excellence in the field events.

Congratulations to all of our athletes and coaches on an outstanding stretch of competition—one defined by focus, effort, and results across the board!

Beyond the Lab

Today, students in our Anatomy & Physiology and Medical Terminology classes toured the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences Human Anatomy Lab and Plastination Museum. The visit also included a bonus behind-the-scenes tour of the university’s microscopy facilities. It was an exciting day of interactive learning for our students!

May Croghan Colonial Bank Athletes of the Month

Help us celebrate Miranda Ertsenian and Logan Lucas for their nomination as Croghan Colonial Bank's Athletes of the Month for May! Your dedication and drive continue to raise the bar—Laker proud! #Excellence #Leadership
